Deepest Sympathy to Those Affected by the Bushfire Disaster

Today, as the Dante Alighieri Society Canberra resumes its activities after its traditional summer pause, we extend our deepest sympathy and best wishes to those directly or indirectly impacted by the horrific bushfires that have ravaged Australia over the past few weeks.  As a community-based organisation proudly promoting Italian language and culture in Canberra for more than 60 years, we are deeply saddened and share Canberra’s grief for the losses of life, homes and property and for the unprecedented devastation of the environment, flora and fauna effected by the fires.

The devastation of the NSW South Coast, much loved by Canberrans, has touched many of the Society’s members.  Our thoughts and sympathy go especially to them and their families.  Together with other community organisations, we will also be assisting initiatives dedicated to providing material support to those directly affected by the fires. The Society urges and encourages all its members give generously to at least one of the many already established worthy initiatives.
