The subcommittee of the Dante Alighieri Society of Canberra (DAS)  “Diavoletti”, hosted an Italian Aperitivo Night for the younger generation (Un Aperitivo per i giovani). The event took place on Thursday, 16 August 2018 at Joe’s Bar in the East Hotel, Kingston.

The Italian Aperitivo was the first function organised by the DAS with the focus on getting the younger generation to come together with other liked minded people – those who wanted to share their experiences about their Italian heritage or for others who were curious to learn all about Italy and its culture.

The 16th marked the Day after Ferragosto, a traditional Italian holiday which could be best described with the following saying:

“A chi e’ al mare e a chi e’ in montagna

A chi va al lago o preferisce la campagna

A chi e’ al lavoro e a chi e’ in riposo

A chi si gode un bel caldo afoso

(O per chi a Canberra subisce un inverno freddoloso)

A tutti gli amici e parenti

auguriamo che il Ferragosto

renda tutti voi piu’ felici e contenti”

What a better way than to celebrate Ferragosto meeting new friends and enjoying traditional appetisers and drinks, in perfect Italian style!

DANTE e i suoi “DIAVOLETTI”

La Dante Alighieri Society of Canberra (DAS) e I suoi “Diavoletti”, Hanno organizzato una serata Aperitivo per i giovani. L’evento si e’ svolto all’East Hotel in Kingston lo scorso 16 Agosto.

“The Italian Aperitivo” e’ stata la prima serata organizzata dalla DAS con l’obiettivo riunire i giovani interessati alla lingua e alla cultura italiana, una serata dove condividere le proprie esperienze o semplicemente imparare di piu’ delle tradizioni italiane.

Il Ferragosto e’ un tradizionale giorno di festa da passare in famiglia o con gli amici, un giorno che a noi piace descrivere in rima come segue:

Non c’e’ modo migliore di festeggiare il Ferragosto con nuovi amici sorseggiando un tradizionale aperitivo, proprio come nelle abitudini italiane!
