News from the Choir

Dante Musica Viva is merrily getting on with life, busy learning new songs and rehearsing for the many performances it has been invited to give. So here is the latest:
Yass Spring Concert: this is the third year that the choir has been invited to perform at a concert organised by Maisie’s choir of Yass. The concert was held on Sun 27 Oct in the Memorial Hall. We were required to sing four pieces (two at the beginning and two at the end) in unison with four other participating choirs – Bridge to Sing from Goulburn, Maisie’s and Good Vibes from Yass, and Canberra Community Voices – some 100 singers in total. The concert finished with everyone singing the rousing Va pensiero, directed by maestro Francesco Sofo. The four pieces we performed on our own were Libiam, Marina, Chitarra suona più piano and Mattinata.

On 18 November we are due to sing at the Italian Community Festival in Queanbeyan. We have been singing at this annual event every time it has been held – last year it was cancelled. Of course we will be singing for you dear Dante members at the Society’s end-of-year function on Thurs 29 November. We will present new pieces in addition to the traditional Christmas
carols.
